The Roman Empire lasted from approx. 150 CE-400 CE

Constantine, and he enouraged scholarship in Byzantine

- They brought back greek philosophy from the ME to Europe
- 1000 CE-1500CE
Thomas Aquinas who was he?
1225-1274
He was a christian philospher who built greek ideas into Christian doctorine
Renaissance (time period, what was it)
It is French for rebirth. It is loosly appied word refering to 1300-1600 which was a revival of classical greek ideas
Copernicus
Around 1500. He developed the first heloocentric model of the universe. His book was published, after he died and didnt cause much controversy
Tycho Brane
1546-1601
- Was a geocentric Danish Nobleman who had the best astronomical data
Kepler
Worked for Tycho. Found that the planets move in elliptical orbits and was a heliocentrist
(1571-1630)
Galileo
1600s
Considered the father of modern physics. Was a devout Roman Catholic but opposed the Church on some issues
Sir Issac Newton
1700s
Said planets orbits were elliptical, and invented calculus
