Q

How is the Displacement method used to measure volume.

A
  1. Fill the graduated cylinder with adequate water.
  2. The object has to be fully submerged in the water when place.
  3. Record the volume of the water prior to submerging the object and label A
  4. Record the volume after submerging the object and label B
  5. Subtract the the reading A from B and that’s the volume of the object

Q

How does a submarine stay afloat on water

A

It uses ballast tans filled with compressed air.
When wanting to sink, they let the water into the tank which increases density and they sink, if they then decide to float they will push the water out and bounce back up due to the low density.

Q

What does the speed of the oscillation depend on

A

The speed depends on the length of the string, as the longer the string is the more time it takes to swing and the shorter the swing the faster.
