How to carry out match analysis
- Performer must find a partner of similar ability to them
- Find a court and play up to 21 points
- Partner watching has a list of skills that they will tally mark every time the performer uses that skill during the game
- They will identify if the skills are effective, ineffective or fairly effective
- This will allow the performer to identify where there strengths and weaknesses are within the game
Model Performers
-A model performer is someone who can carry out a performance in any of the 4 factors to an almost perfect level. Their performance levels are what we strive to achieve and are who we measure ourselves against when collecting data.
-A model performer can be;
•An elite athlete like Usain Bolt
•A high performing team mate such as the captain of your football team
Benefits of comparing to a model performer
- You can use a model performers NORMS to compare your results to when evaluating data
- Boosts motivation levels
- Easy to compare to
Limitations of model performers
- Boring
- Select a false model performer
- Lack knowledge on how to analyse
How do I carry out match analysis sheet
- Sheet includes the net shot, drop shot, high serve, overhead clear and smash
- it then has 3 options of whether the skill was ineffective, fairly effective, or effective and I put a tally mark in one of those boxes for each time i completed the skill
- partner recorded me from second floor to get clear view
- I carefully watch the video to make sure I’m ticking down the right skill
- I then total the amount of times I completed each skill
- I then calculate the percentage of of shots I played for each skill where ineffective, fairly effective or effective
- I also count how many shots I played were ineffective, fairly effective and effective for all skills
- I then calculated the total percentage including all skills that were ineffective, fairly effective and effective
