Physical Science Flashcards
Radiation
Heat transferring through electromagnetic waves.
Convection
Heat transferring through a liquid or gas.
Conduction
Heat transferring through to objects touching.
Physical Property
A substance properties that does not change the chemical nature of described using your five senses.
Physical Change
A property changes to another; chemical makeup stays the same.
Chemical Properties
Properties that only observable during a chemical reaction.
Chemical Change
When substances combine to form a new substance.
Speed
The rate at which someone or something is able to move or operate.
Friction
The resistance that one surface or object encounters when moving over another.
Newton’s First Law of Motion
When and object is in motion, it wanted to stay in motion. When an object is at rest, it wants to stay at rest forever. This is called inertia.
Newton’s Second Law of Motion
When two forces on an object are balanced, the object does not move. When the forces are unbalanced, the object moves.
Newton’s Third Law of Motion
For every action there is an equal at opposite reaction.
