Physical Science Flashcards
Radiation
The transfer of energy through heat flowing through solid objects.
Convection
The movement caused by a liquid by the tendency of hotter and cooler energy which results in heat transfer.
Conduction
Transfer of energy through touch.
Physical Properties
Reactions that are physical.
Physical Changes
A change in some properties of matter without forming a different change in matter.
Chemical Properties
Can be used to separate mixtures and to help identify materials.
Chemical Changes
The change of a substance into a different substance with different properties.
Average Speed
To find the average speed you have to divide the distance by the time.
Velocity
The speed and direction of an objects motion.
Friction
A force that resists moving objects.
Newton’s First Law
When an object in motion wants to stay in motion, it stays in motion. When at rest, it wants to stay at rest.
Newton’s Second Law
When two forces on an object are balanced, the object does not move. If it is unbalanced, it moves.
Newton’s Third Law
For every action, their is an equal and opposite reaction.
Force
The amount of strength on an object.
