Photosynthesis Flashcards
Equation for photosynthesis
Carbon dioxide + water —> oxygen + glucose
Equation for photosynthesis with symbols
CO2 + H2O —> O2 + C6H12O6
Is photosynthesis endothermic or exothermic
Endothermic
Where is the light absorbed
In the chloroplasts
How does temp increase photosynthesis
As temp increases so does the rate of photosynthesis
However if the temp gets too high the enzymes denature and the rate decreases
How does light intensity affect the photosynthesis
Light intensity increases so does the rate of photosynthesis
But will stop suddenly when the light is no longer the limiting factor
Concentration of CO2 how does it affect photosynthesis
Concentration increases so does the CO2
Same as long where it will stop suddenly as it is no longer the limiting factor
Concentration of chlorophyll
Chlorophyll absorbs the light so the more chlorophyll the more photosynthesis
What is glucose used for
Respiration Conversion into starch Turned into fats or oils Turned into cellulose Used to produce amino acids
