Photosynthesis Flashcards
Where does photosynthesis happen
In chloroplasts which contain chlorophyll
What does chlorophyll do
It absorbs light which transfers energy back to the chloroplasts
Equation
Carbon dioxide + water ➡️ light➡️glucose + oxygen
6CO2 + 6H2O ➡️ C6 H12 O6 + 6O2
What type of reaction is photosynthesis
Endothermic reaction meaning, it takes in energy during the reaction
What is rate of photosynthesis affected by
The light intensity , concentration of CO2 , temperature
What happens if the Temperature is the limiting factor
Its because the temperature is too LOW
The enzymes needed for photosynthesis work slowly
What happens if the temperature is too hot
The enzymes needed for photosynthesis and other reactions become denatured
Happens at about 45 degrees
What happens if carbon dioxide is increased
Increasing CO2 concentration increases the rate of photosynthesis up to a certain point then its no longer the limiting factor
