Describe panic as a behavioural characteristic of phobias
Panic is a response to a phobic stimuli and this is typical presented with behaviours such as crying, screaming or running away. Children could freeze as they may not know what to do
Describe avoidance as a behavioural characteristic of phobias
This is when a person tries their best to prevent coming into contact with the phobic stimulus and tries to avoid it
Describe endurance as a behavioural characteristic of phobias
This is when the person chooses to remain in the presence of the phobic stimulus

Anxiety, fear and unreasonable emotional response
Describe anxiety as an emotional characteristic
There is an emotional response of anxiety which is an unpleasant state of arousal and this prevent a person from relaxing and makes it difficult to experience any positive emotion

Fear is the immediate and extremely unpleasant response we experience when we encounter or think about a phobic stimulus. It is usually more intense but are in shorter periods than anxiety
Explain unreasonable emotional response as an emotional characteristic of phobias
The anxiety or fear is much greater than ‘normal’ and is disproportionate to any threat posted
