-You really like that thing but know its ridiculous or silly to like it
-You do really like that thing but think you shouldn’t ( guilty pleasure
- You really like that thing contrary to what is expected of you
-You really dislike that thing plus some complicated feelings

-Relatively private and intimate places to relatively public places

-Ideally we do aesthetic activities together with people

what is the difference between thick and thin ontology
-Ontologically thick ( has very strictly guidelines in order to make a token of that meme) ( when you have to follow a strictly set of steps in a recipe )
-Ontologically thin ( the creators get a lot room to play around with what they are making / no strict rules to follow)
Why are memes valuable?
-They generate community
-Shared responsibility
-Intimacy with community
what are the goals of going out
Goals: ( make contact with ordinary usage of going out / get an explanatory account/ mirrors our reflection on ordinary artistic practices and ontology of art
why go out?
-intensify out awareness and emotional responses
-Give shared memories / conversations with others
-Help us better understand the object we are engaging with
-Give meaningful bonds with other people
paradox of ironic appreciation
Paradox: ironic appreciation seems to involve liking and disliking the same thing at the same time
what’s the difference between Lower vs higher pleasures
-Lower ( bodily, easy to satisfy something like the simpsons )
-higher( mental, harder to achieve example shakespeare and understanding it )
What does ironic appreciation really mean
Focus on common features that these accounts share in common ( tension between liking and disliking )( personal distancing from simple liking )( presuppose some level of superiority and inferiority )
