biology 4 Flashcards
Chromosome theory of inheritance
genes are located on chromosomes and that the behavior of chromosomes during meiosis /
what is a barr body and what does it do
this is an inactive X in each cell of a female condenses into a compact object / X chromosome will form the Barr body occurs randomly and independently in each embryonic cell present at the time of X inactivation
what do sex linked chromosomes do
a gene located in the sex chromasomes most of these are x linked genes, if a male inherests a ressecive x gene they will exspress traits such as color blinsness
what are linked genes
Genes located close enough on a chromosome they tend to be inherited together
What is the concept of recombination of unlinked genes
the random orientation of homologous chromosomes at metaphase 1 in meiosis which leads to independent assortment of unlinked genes
pedigrees
Reveal the inheritance pattern of a specific trait such as a widows peak and the relation between the parent and offspring with that trait
what is the difference between polyploidy and aneuploidy
polyploidy extra sets of chromosomes and is fatal to animals and humans aneupoly is when you have a missing set of chromosomes
