Q

How does aminoglycoside induced hearing loss occur?

A

A mutation in the structure of the rRNA makes it more likeley for aminoglycosides to bind. This increases risk of hearing loss at a younger age.

Mitochondria encode for these 12s rRNA so the condition has meternal inheritance.
