Pharm: Heme Drugs Flashcards
Fondaparinux
Promotes inhibition of factor Xa by anti-thrombin III
Heparin
Promotes action of anti-thrombin III
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Inhibits vitamin K-dependent carboxylation of factors II, VII, IX, X and proteins C and S
Argatroban
Direct thrombin inhibitor (others in this class: bivalirudin, lepirudin)
Rivaroxaban
Director inhibitor of factor Xa
ASA (Aspirin)
Irreversible inhibitor of COX1 and 2 > decreased prostaglandin synthesis
Clopidogrel
Blocks platelet aggregation by irreversibly inhibiting binding of ADP to P2Y12 receptor (other drugs in same class: prasugrel)
Cilostazol
Inhibits cAMP phosphodiesterase III > increased cAMP levels > inhibits thromboxane A2 synthesis
Dipyridamole
Inhibits uptake of adenosine > increases circulating adenosine > increases cAMP > inhibits thromboxane A2 synthesis
Abciximab
Inhibits glycoprotein IIb/IIIa > inhibits binding of fibrinogen and vWF
Streptokinase
Promotes conversion of plasminogen to plasmin (thrombolytic)
Aminocaproic acid
Inhibits plasminogen activation > inhibits fibrinolysis
