What things that don’t require Kosher for Passover Hechsher?
Example: meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, milk
What is Kitniyot?
Legumes, including rice, corn, beans
Ashkenazic Jews don’t eat Kitniyot for Pesach because it might be mistaken for Hametz (e.g. similar in texture and bread came be made out of the flour)
Many Sephardic Jews continue to eat kitniyot on Pesach

How is Matzah made, and what does it symbolize?
Unleavened bread made from just flour (5 grains) and water and baked 18 minutes (before it has a chance to rise).
When our forefathers left Egypt, they were in such a hurry that there was no time to wait for the dough to rise. They therefore ate matzah, unleavened bread. With only this food (but with great faith), our ancestors relied on the Almighty to provide sustenance for the entire Jewish nation—men, women and children.
Matzah symbolizes faith. In contrast to leavened bread, matzah is not enriched with oil, honey or other substances. It consists only of flour and water, and is not allowed to rise. Similarly, the only “ingredients” for faith are humility and submission to G‑d, which come from recognizing our “nothingness” when compared with the infinite wisdom of the Creator.
What the Halacha regarding Chametz found on Pesach and Chol Hamoed?
On Pesach: cover it, but don’t move it because it is muktza.
On Chol Hamoed: destroy it immediately
What changes during Shacharit on Pesach Chol Hamoed?
- Tefillin not worn
- Half Hallel is recited
- 2 Torah scrolls are read each day: 1st reading differs each day; second reading is Numbers 28 (Pinchas)
- Yaaleh Veyavo is recited during the Amida
