Personality III Flashcards
Operant Conditioning
Law of Effect
Positive consequences will increase behavior, Negative consequences will decrease behavior
Shaping
Reinforcing the successive approximation of a target behavior
Reinforcement
Antrhing that increases a behavior
Punishment
Anything that decreases behavior
Positive +
Adding something
Negative -
Take something away
Primary reinforcers
Satsify bio/physio needs
Ex. Food
Secondary Reinforcers
Became associated with primary reinforcers through learning
Postivice Reinforcement
Giving child a snack or letting them play games after they do their homework
Negative reinforcement
Removing tiredness by sleeping
Removing thenrisk of getting sick by eating hekoing
Swapping is both at the same time
Take away phone to encourage socializing irl
Positive Punishment
Getting a ticket
Negative Punishment
Taking away screentime for talking about
Taking away door
Personal applications
Encourage/Discouraged
Encouraged to go to school to make my parents happy…
Encouraged to do art because it makes me happy
Ecouraged to share my art to make others happy
Encouraged to feed my cat so she stays alive and play with her so that she is happy
Someone who added something that changed the way I view things…. I don’t want to feel please
Discouraged from looking at his account so that I dont want to literally die.
Observational Learning
The process of learning by watching others and then imitating what they do
Model
Person who performs a behavior that serves as an examples (in observational learning)
Factors that will determine if learning will occur
1) Attention
You must focus on what the model is doing
There is neuron linked to paying attention
2) Retention
You must be able to remember what you have observed
3) You must be able to perform the behavior that you observed and committed to memory
For example you watch a gymnast but don’t have the atheltic ability to do so
4) Motivaton
You must want to copy this behavior
Attractive traits like popular, postive, likable
You want to come across the same way so you start doing what they’re doing
Bobodoll experiement
Me in my room fr
I can’t watch this lmao
That would be a sick drawing lowkey
Not replicating exact moves but agressiveness in general
Bc the model gave a greenlight for that agression
…
Emotional agression
Cognitive Learning
Acquisition of information that may not be immediately acted on but is stored for later
Social Cognitive Theory: Bandura
Bandara proposed reciprical determinism
Reciprical Determinism
Our behavior, cognitive process, and situational context all influlence each other
Cycle
Repeating process
BPD
I forgot his freaking example and the messages are gone now oh well
Self-Efficacy
Our level in confidence in our own abilities, developed trhough our social experiences
In observational learning, it is a cognitive factor that effects which behaviors we shoose to imiate out suvves in performing those behviors.
Self-efficacy is like confidence that is more situational-based and can vary depending on skill level in different asepcts. Confidence is more as a whole (I think pretty sure)
