enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior. cognitive, emotional, interpersonal, and behavioral components. leads to distress or impairment. pervasive and inflexible. onset in adolescence or early adulthood and stable over time
cluster A disorders
paranoid, schizoid, schizotypal. psychotic-like, but not psychotic
cluster B disorders
antisocial, histrionic, narcissistic, borderline. dreaded by health care. behavioral disorders
cluster C disorders
avoidant, dependent, obsessive-compulsive. anxious stuff
Paranoid
pervasive distrust and suspiciousness of others such that their motives are interpreted as malevolent, beginning by early adulthood. does not occur exclusively during the course of schizophrenia or other psychotic disorder
schizoid
pervasive pattern of detachment from social relationship and a restricted range of expression of emotions. does not occur exclusively during the course of schizophrenia. appear uninterested and flat. can be misdiagnosed as autism spectrum
schizotypal
pervasive pattern of interpersonal deficits marked by cognitive or perceptual distortions and eccentricities of behavior. does not occur exclusively during the course of schizophrenia or other psychotic disorder. just acting odd
antisocial
pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of others occurring since age 15. evidence of a conduct disorder with onset before age 15. antisocial behavior is not exclusively during schizophrenia or a manic episode. criminal activity, not good morals, animal torture, pyro, etc.
histrionic
pervasive pattern of excessive emotionality and attention seeking, beginning by early adulthood. Sexually seductive or provocative behavior. self-dramatization, theatricality, exaggerated emotional expression. easily influenced by others. considers relationships to be more intimate than they actually are.
narcissistic
pervasive pattern of grandiosity in fantasy and behavior, beginning by early adulthood. need for admiration. lack of empathy. sense of entitlement. can react violently because they feel their actions are justified.
borderline Personality disorder
pattern of instability of interpersonal relationships, self-image, and affects, and marked impulsivity beginning by early adulthood. frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment, unstable relationships, unstable self image, recurrent suicidal thoughts/self mutilation, mood lability, chronic feelings of emptiness, frequent anger, paranoid ideation
avoidant
pervasive pattern of social inhibition by early adulthood. inhibited in social situations because of feelings of inadequacy. hypersensitive to criticism or rejection. dont like being in public, extreme shyness
obsessive compulsive
preoccupied with details, rules, lists. perfectionism. excessively devoted to work and productivity. scrupulous about morality, ethics, and values. unable to discard worn out objects. micro manages. miserly spending style. rigid and stubborn
dependent
pervasive and excessive need to be taken care of beginning by early adulthood. indecisive. submissive and clingy. difficulty expressing disagreement. lack of self-confidence, feeling of helplessness. goes to excessive lengths to obtain nurturance and support from others
