patients have a crystallized, often single, delusion. they do not have hallucinations or thought disorders like schizophrenia. they often can have normal lives. delusions cannot be substance induced, medical condition driven, or be part of any other mental disorder

A

delusion that one is dead, do not exist, or has missing organs. seen more in depression/schizophrenia

A

affected person believes that another person, usually a stranger or famous person, is in love with them. often happens during psychosis in ppl with schizophrenia, delusional disorder, or bipolar mania.

treatment

A

assumption there is too much mesolimbic dopamine activity. antipsychotics are sometimes effective. psychotherapy may help patients cope, lower symptoms. be nice and understanding to these people
