Define personality
Enduring patterns of thinking and behaviour that define the person and distinguish them from other people
Define personality disorders
Persistent, maladaptive, and inflexible patterns of thought and behaviour that develop in adolescence or early adulthood and significantly impair an individuals ability to function
Types of personality disorders
Type A weird: odd thinking and eccentric behaviour. Paranoid
Type B wild: dramatic and erratic behaviour. Antisocial, borderline
Type C worried: severe anxiety and fear. Dependent, obsessive compulsive

- distrust and suspiciousness of others
- detachments from social relationships
Disregard for and violation of the right of others
Social inhibition
Maladaptive cognitions
‘If people get to know the real me, they will reject me’

Primary goal: enhance quality of life by reducing reliance on ineffective actions stemming from dysregulated emotions
