  1. Maslows hierarchy of needs and the ERG theory
    - these theories focus on the need fulfilment of employees
    - maslows theory helps determine job satisfaction if employees financial, self-actualization needs are being met and are also being challenged/stimulated to perform better
    - ERG: existence, related and growth needs are being met
    existence - material needs and wants
    related - interpersonal needs of close social or interpersonal relationships is being met
    growth - desire to be creative and productive; challenged to grow and achieve potential
  2. Two-factor theory by Herzberg
    - hygience f: like salary and work conditions (more like tangible factors)
    - motivator f: like achievement and growth
    - both of these are required to meet job satisfaction needs if any one is inadequate it can create an imbalance
  3. McClelland’s theory
    - affiliation: need to have close social bonds to succeed at the job so jobs like HR and customer relations
    - power: need to influence/control/direct so people so they do better in positions of power like a CEO
    - achievement needs: having a job that makes them solve complex tasks and problems or even challenges so like research and development jobs are good
