Q

Teamwork?

A

I represented the school Rugby team as a hooker where we all agreed it would be a worthwhile undertaking to train together at lunchtimes. This helped us bond as a team developing rapport which I believe enabled us to be successful. cadets as a part of a Rugby and five a side football team. This taught me the importance of building rapport with fellow teammates and the accountability required motivating me to work toward the team’s success rather than my own personal success. This also helped me recognise the importance of helping and supporting team mates. l was also Member of the school council in which i met with peers carefully listening to opinions and perspectives. I then relayed these respectfully to the senior leadership team within school. An example of this was when I campaigned for nutritional information to be shown on the canteen products as students in my form were concerned about eating a balanced nutritional diet.

Q

Leadership and Responsibility

A

I thoroughly enjoyed being a member of 203 Sqn in the Air cadets for 3 years where I was promoted to Corporal. I attended the wing JNCO course which was a 2 day residential assessment involving practical and exam testing to ensure I had the required skillset to be a JNCO. Cadets provided me the opportunity to develop leadership and teamwork abilities through the instruction of drill. This also helped me develop discipline and a sense of pride where I felt proud to wear the uniform acting as a role model for less experienced cadets. Teaching lessons to the cadets as part of the AC syllabus also developed effective communication skills. As part of my geography studies at school I mentored students in my spare time at lunch who needed extra assistance in the subject.

Q

Charity Work / Community work

A

During my time at cadets I participated in community and charity work for example assisting the RBL in selling poppies. I also participated in a project run by Humberside Police called “Operation Lifestyle” where the aim was to improve our local community. Our team raised substantial funds for the project to build a skatepark for local children and young people in the area. We met with the local community leaders and an architect to plan the project. Humberside police recognised our efforts and awarded us with an adventure holiday at an awards ceremony in Hull.

Q

Interests

A

My main interest is learning to fly from Humberside airport (formerly RAF Kirmington) with POM Flying Club. I was delighted to recently undertake my solo flight after just 13 hours of flying. Another one of my interests is going to the gym 5 to 6 times a week in which a follow a structured routine strength training and cardiovascular training plan alongside an optimal nutrition plan. At the weekends I go bouldering at Rock City in Hull, where I compete with my friends to see who can do the most challenging set. LEGO? When the weather permits I also enjoy waterskiing and wakeboarding.

Q

Tell me about a self weakness?

A

Sometimes I can have a tendency to be overly self critical. A recent example of this would be during the landing on my first solo flight. Although I was disappointed and I thought my performance fell short of my usual landings my instructor said that it was a good and safe landing particularly given the adverse conditions such as a crosswind.

Q

3 Personal Strengths

A

-I have the discipline to undertake self study. An example of this is when I successfully studied for and passed my level 2 and level 3 in personal training, also I am currently studying for my ppl theoretical knowledge examinations.

-I have clear and concise communication skills developed through the cadets where I instructed drill and taught cadets lessons.

-I have the ability to remain calm under pressure. An example of this was when I was working at the gym and I was confronted with an aggressive gym member after I went to enforce the rules, remaining calm I got them to follow them.
