Nursing care pre procedure of PCR
A
- Assess patients knowledge of procedure and expectations of treatment
- Describe the cardiac catheterization laboratory and the planned procedure. 3. Discuss the types of drugs that will be used such as anticoagulants to reduce the risk of thrombus formation, IV nitroglyensations during. 4. Discuss possible sensations during procedure such as flushing or warmth, metallic taste, pressure or chest pain during balloon inflation.

A
- Monitor vital signs, 12 lead ECG.
- Complete head to toe assessment monitor for chest pain, decreased cardiac output, or myocardial infarction.
- Administer IV nitro, night rates, and take away gallons, and I platelets, and CON’s.
- monitor and treat chest pain.
- Maintain head of bed 30 degrees.
- Monitor pulses, skin color, range of motion, sensation, and temperature for every 15 minutes for the first hour, every 30 minutes for the next hour, every hour for 8 hrs then every 4 hrs.
- monitor intake and output, electrolytes, bun, creatinine, CBC, and PTT as well as cardiac enzymes.
- Monitor for bradycardia
