what is an echocardiogram used for?
an ultrasound of the heart which is used to diagnose valve disorders and cardiomyopathy
echocardiogram pre procedure patient teaching
explain the reason for the test. This is noninvasive test and takes up to 1 hour.
echocardiogram: intra procedure patient teaching

provider reviews test results and a plan for follow-up care with the client
what is a stress test and what to the results indicate?
The cardiac muscle is exercised by patient walking on treadmill. This provides information regarding workload of heart. once patient’s heart rate reaches a certain level, test is discontinued
what are some nursing actions related to pre procedure for stress test?

- explain to patient that he will be walking on treadmill, and comfortable shoes and clothing are recommended.
- instruct patient to fast 2 or 4 hours before the procedure and to avoid tobacco, alcohol, and caffeine.

applying 12 lead ECG to monitor the patience heart rate during test
nursing responsibilities related to stress test post procedure
monitor ECG and blood pressure frequently until stable.
