Q
What are the major surfaces and attachments of ilium?
A
The inner surface is concave and serves as an attachment point for the iliacus muscle. The outer surface is convex; all the gluteal muscles (maximus, medius and minimus) attach there. The external oblique muscle attaches to the iliac crest. The multifidus, piriformis, latissimus dorsi, rectus femoris and sartorius muscles also have attachments.
