Pelvic Perineal Myology - 2/16 Olinger Flashcards
What is the action of the superficial transverse perineal muscle?
Support and fix the perineal body, supports the abdominopelvic viscera
Resists increases in intra abdominal pressure
What is the action of the ischiocavernosus muscle?
Maintain erection of penis/clitoris by compressing venous drainage, forcing blood from crura into body of penis/clitoris
What is the action of the bulbospongiosus muscle?
Support and fix the perineal body
Compress bulb of penis and assist erection by compressing venous drainage
Expel final urine/semen from urethra
Compresses vaginal orrifice and greater vestibular gland
What innervates the superficial perineal muscles?
Deep perineal nerve
What are the Urogenital diaphragm muscles?
External urethral sphincter
Deep transverse perineal muscle
What innervates the external urethral sphincter in the male/female?
Dorsal nerve of penis/clitoris
What extra muscle do females have relating to the external urethral sphincter m?
Action?
Urethralvaginal sphincter m.
Compresses the vagina
What attaches to the lateral wall of the external urethral sphincter to the urethra?
Compressor urethrae m.
Action of deep transverse perineal m?
Innervation?
Support and fix the perineal body, support abdominopelvic viscera
Resists increase in intra abdominal pressure
Deep perineal n.
What innervates the external anal sphincter?
Inferior rectal/anal nerve
What makes up the pelvic diaphragm?
Levator ani + coccygeus m.
What muscles from the superficial fascia of the pelvic diaphragm insert onto the urinary bladder superiorly?
Pubovesicalis
Rectovesicalis
Which muscles resist increases in intraabdominal pressure and support the pelvic viscera?
Levator ani group
Action of puborectalis m.?
Maintain anorectal flexure + same as 2 others
What innervates the levator ani group?
Nerve to levator ani m. (S4), inferior rectal n., branches of coccygeal plexus
