Head of the Femur
Rounded end of the femur (Hip Bone)
Neck of Femur
Connects the head to shaft of bone.
Greater Trochanter
Bony prominence where the neck and shaft meet.
Lesser Trochanter
Attachment point for the muscles that flex the hip.
Gluteal Tuberosity
Point of attachment for gluteus maximus + adductor Magnus muscle.
Linea Aspera
Longitudinal ridge (rough patch) on back of femur.
Patellar Surface
Covers medial and lateral condyle.
Medial Epicondyle
Most prominent point on medial condyle (distal).
Lateral Epicondyle
Rounded bump on lateral condyle (one of the bones that make the knee joint)
Medial Condyle
Lower end that is more rounded + convex on medial side.
Patella
The kneecap; an example of a sesamoid bone.
Medial Condyle
Medial, proximal end.
Lateral Condyle
Outer portion of proximal tibia.
Intercondylar Eminence
Elevated region at the center of the intercondylar area.
Head of the Fibula
The upper end of the fibula.
