Vigorous cry - Respiration

Cry/withdrawal - Reflex irritability
Pink all over - Color of baby
APGAR is?
A rapid scoring system of physiologic process to determine the need for newborn resuscitation.
When is APGAR performed?
At 1 and 5 mins after birth.
8-9 APGAR score means?
Full term infants w/ normal cardiopulm adaptation
4-7 APGAR score means?
Req close observation gfor improvement or determine DDx for pathological causes.
0-3 APGAR score means?
Cardiopulm arrest, hypoxia, or conditions causing severe bradycardia, hypoventilation, or CNS depression.
Infants with asphyxia (0-3 APGAR) can have?
Severe neurological injury due to <7 pH *fetal acidosis) leading to seuzures, coma, hypotonia, multiorgan dysfx.
MGMT for 0-3 APGAR
Assisted face mask ventilation
