Alpha thalassemia
Presents as 4 syndromes depending on mutations on the alpha chains
Dx: Bart’s Hemoglobin seen on electrophoresis
Beta thalassemia minor
Seen am mild anemia 6-12 months after birth
Beta thalassemia major
Severe microcytic anemia at birth and electrophoresis shows absent hemoglobin a on neonatal exam
Sickle cell trait
FAS pattern on electrophoresis
hemoglobin f, a, and s
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Most common malignancy of childhood
Hemophilia A
Presentation: hemarthrosis and easy brushing
Causes: generic disorder
Low factor xiii causes prolonged aptt but normal PT
Factor v deficiency
Thrombotic disorder and leads to thrombotic effects
Osteochondroma
Most common benign tumor in children
Pain free mass
