Arthrogryposis
★ non-progressive, congenital condition
★ multiple contractures in small & large joints
★ shoulders may be internally rotated and drawn inward (adducted)
★ elbows are usually extended
★ wrists are usually flexed
★ fingers flexed & stiff
★ impaired ROM
Switch-Adapted Toys
★ Purpose: help develop motor skills, hand-eye coordination, cause & effect understanding, and encourages participation in play
Fetal alcohol syndrome
causes brain damage & delayed growth
★ results from alcohol exposure during mother’s pregnancy
★ can result in congenital abnormalities as well as development & physical delays
Microcephaly
condition in which the brain develops abnormally, causing the head to be smaller than expected for the child’s age
Torticollis
condition in which the child’s head persistently tilts to one side
