Pectoral Muscles Flashcards
Innervation of serratus anterior
Long thoracic nerve.
Innervation of Pectoral Major
Lateral and medial pectoral nerves.
Subclavius innervation
Nerve to subclavius.
Function of Pectoral Minor
Stabilises the scapula by drawing it anteroinferiorly against the thoracic wall.
Function of serratus anterior
Rotates the scapula, allowing the arm to be raised over 90 degrees. It also holds the scapula against the ribcage.
Clinical correlation is winged scapula
Innervation of Pectoral Minor
Medial pectoral nerve.
Function of subclavius
Anchors and depresses the clavicle
Function of Pectoral Major
Adducts and medially rotates the upper limb and draws the scapula anteroinferiorly. The clavicular head also acts individually to flex the upper limb.
