Due to the Black Death Peasants grew in power. The Law meant wages went back to before the Black Death
What was the Black Death and when was it?

Rats from Europe carried fleas with the plague. this killed 1/3 of the population
What was the Hundred Years War & Poll Tax?
Richard II was fighting in France. He used the Poll Tax to fund the war. By 1380 everyone above the age of 15 would pay the same groats every year
Who were John Ball and Wycliffe and what did they do?
They were priests who preached of how the church exploited the peasants
What happened to the Peasants after the Black Death?
They gained power as they were in higher demand. They began to earn better pay

Peasants storm London and burn Palaces to the ground

Richard II would meet with the Peasants again. Tyler is murdered and the king takes control.

Will you shoot your king? I am your leader.
Did Richard II ever keep his promises of making all villains free?
No he went back on his word
By 1450 what had happened to the rights of the Peasants?
They became free and could work for wages wherever they wanted
