Why did Henry VIII make the break from Rome?
He wanted a divorce with his first Wife Catherine of Aragon. He also wanted the English people to listen to him

People felt he held too much power. As a son of blacksmith people felt Cromwell was not good enough to advise Henry

Protestantism - this would anger foreign Catholics

Prices rose causing inflation in England - people would blame his advisors
What did Henry do to make money for the wars other than taxing?
Got rid of the monasteries
How were the monasteries helpful to general people?
Helped the homeless, took care of the ill and provided support for the less fortunate. Acted as schools as well

What did Henry say to Aske regarding the demands?
Said he would agree to them - word spread he was to break his promise
What happened in January 1537?
A secondary revolt happened, Henry could now go back on his promises. the revolt ended and 74 members were hanged
What did Henry do after this secondary revolt?
He would go on to destroy all monasteries in England
