First phase of the heart
Blood is transported back to the heart via pulmonary veins, which carries oxygenated blood from the lungs or the two vena cava, which carry deoxygenated blood from the rest of the body.
Second phase
The two atria contract and the valves separating these from the ventricles open, allowing blood to be pumped into the ventricle.
Third Phase
The valves between the atria and ventricles close, preventing back flow as both ventricles contract. Blood is forced out of the heart to either the lungs or the rest of the body.
Blood pressure
The pressure of your blood.
Oxygen uptake
Maximum oxygen taken up in a minute
Respiratory System
Carry’s oxygenated and deoxygenated blood around the body.
Arteriovenous oxygen difference
The difference between oxygen concentration in the arterial and venous blood.
