What are the main sources of SFD Flight Data?
1) Internally mounted Inertial Sensor Pack (ISP) for attitude and slip indication
2) Magnetic Heading Sensor (MHS) for heading indication, fitted in the left wingtip.
3) Air Data Unit (ADU), for airspeed and altitude indication, situated in the avionics bay.
Where does the SFD get navigational information from?
1) VOR/ILS 1 receiver
2) TACAN/DME transceiver
How are the SFD and SFDR powered?
1) SFD from the emergency bus
2) SFDR from the BATT BUS
What occurs if INSTRUCTOR switch is set to SOLO?
SFDR is de-energized.
What information is shown on the SFD attitude indicator?
- A/C reference symbol
- Pitch information, including red V’s when pitch is +-55 to +-75 deg.
- Roll information
- Slip indicator
What is the minimum speed that can be indicated on the SFD? What occurs below 40 knots?
- 40 KIAS
- Airspeed remains at 40 KIAS
Are trend arrows for SFD airspeed and altitude shown?
Yes
What does the ALN button on the SFD do? What limits is this button effective?
- Manually aligns the attitude indicator.
- Level flight within the limits of +- 30 deg of pitch and roll.
How can brightness of SFD be changed in the cockpit manually?
Through DISPLAYS switch.
