Ensure the seat backrest is correctly adjusted before strap in.

19
Q

What does the ISS system do and where is the selector valve?

A
  • It provides individual or command ejection options

- Controller with ISS selector valve

20
Q

What is the sink rate of the parachute?

A

21.3 ft/sec

21
Q

A

0 to 370 KIAS

24
Q

OPERATIONS

A

OPERATIONS

25
Q

What controls are used to adjust the backrest position?

A

Backrest adjustment knob and backrest adjustment pin.

26
Q

Who should ideally adjust the backrest?

A

Well trained ground crew.

27
Q

How is the seat height adjusted?

A

Seat raising actuator switch on the right side of the seat pan.

28
Q

When inspecting the MDC trip lever, should a yellow witness indicator be seen?

A

NO!

29
Q

What is the strapping in procedure?

A

1) Ensure leg garters are correctly fitted and adjusted
2) Ensure backrest position (Back or forward) and harness length (long or short) are in correct position.
3) Ensure both safety pins are entered then get into the cockpit.
4) Adjust the height of the seat pan with the seat raising actuator switch.
5) Engage the lug of the PSP lowering line connector to the quick-release connector of the bandalier
6) Engage leg restraint lines - check that they give full movement.
7) Check that Harness Power Retraction unit is in the forward position
8) Put straps into QRF
9) Connect Mic-tel, oxy and anti g hose

30
Q

What are the steps to unstrap?

A

1) Put seat pin back into seat
2) Release all shoulder harnesses and lap strap lugs
3) Operate the leg restraint lines release lever to release the taper plugs
4) Pull leg lines out of leg garter d rings
5) Stow shoulder harnesses

31
Q

What does the ISS system do?

A

Ensures a safe separation between the two seats during a dual ejection

32
Q

What are the three positions of the ISS mode selector?

A

1) BOTH
2) REAR
3) INDEPENDENT

33
Q

What does ISS BOTH do?

A

If front or rear seat handle is pulled:

1) Rear seat will go
2) Front seat will go

34
Q

What does ISS REAR do?

A

If front seat is pulled:

1) Front seat ejects
2) Rear does not

If rear seat handle pulled

1) Rear seat is ejected
2) Front seat is ejected

35
Q

What does ISS INDEPENDENT do?

A

If front seat handle pulled

1) Front seat is ejected immediately
2) Rear seat not ejected

If rear seat handle pulled:

1) Rear seat ejected
2) Front seat not ejected

36
Q

What is correct body position for ejection?

A

1) Sit upright
2) Visor down
3) Helmet against headrest
4) Feet forward onto rudder pedals
5) Hands on thighs.

37
Q

What is the ejection sequence?

A

1) Handle pulled
2) Cartridges fire
3) Legs restrained
4) CFS fires
5) Under seat rocket motor extracts the seat from the aircraft
6) Drogue deploys

38
Q

When does BTRU separate the pilot form the seat?

A

When passing 15,400 feet.

39
Q

How is deconfliction between the front and rear ejection seats achieved?

A
  • Rear seat ejects to right side

- Front seat ejects to left side

40
Q

What does the ADU do and what two modes are there?

A
  • Manages the PSP release

- AUTO and MANUAL

41
Q

What does the Manual Override Mechanism (MOR) do?

A

Used as an alternative procedure to operate the bridle release and harness released mechanism in case automatic function has failed.

42
Q

What does an AMBER Pins caution with a single chime mean?

A

In flight:
One or more of CFS or seat safety pins is not in the stowed position

On ground:

  • 1 or more of CFS safety pins is not in stowed position and PCL > 38 deg + TQ > 38%
  • One of more of the CFS and seat safety pins is in the stowed position (glare shield) with canopy unlocked
43
Q

What are the center components of the ejection seat?

A

1) Canopy breaker, parachute container, knee protectors, seat firing handle, safety pin and PSP

44
Q
