What are the three components of the CES?
1) Ejection seats
2) Inter-seat sequencing system (ISS)
3) Canopy Fracturing System
What does the Barostatic Time Release Unit (BTRU) control?
The man/seat separation based on barostatic altitude.
What provides oxygen during descent from high altitude?
EO
What does the PSP contain?
Dingy + Survival aids container.
When is the MOR system used?
If there is a failure of the automatic seat stabilization and separation.
What is the Automatic Deployment Unit (ADU)?
AUTO and MANUAL mode.
- Auto automatically releases the PSP
- Manual makes it manual
How is the seat height adjusted?
Through the seat raising actuator on the right side of the seat pan.
What MUST be done before changing seat height?
Loose items should be secured.
What is the time limit on the seat height adjust motor?
More than 1 minute total in any 5 min period.
Where is the intercom cable attached to?
The seat oxygen hose.
Can the EO handle be pushed back if it is operated?
Yes
What is the purpose of the canopy breakers ?
To break through the canopy in case the canopy fracturing system does not operate.
Where is the go-forward lever located and what does it do?
- Left side of the seat frame
- Locks or unlocks harness inertia reels so that the pilot can unlock the harnesses to move forward.
What does each ejection seat PSP contain?
- Survival aids container
- Inflatable life raft
What do the leg restraints do during ejection?
Pull the legs towards the seat pan to minimize leg injuries during ejection.
How are the leg restraints released?
Using the leg restraint lines release lever on the right side of the seat frame.
How much is the seat backrest adjustable ?
- Can be moved back by 41 mm
- Only two positions.
