Supine position?
Back laying (sleeping and resting)
Prone position?
Front laying on abdomen with head turned to one side (prevent contractions of the thigh)
Lateral position?
Side laying using pillow to support back and separate legs (comfort)
Fowlers position?
Semi sitting, client confined to bed (eating, drinking, watching tv, breathe better)
Sims position?
Left laying, right leg sharply flexed, left arm positioned along back (administer enema, resting)
Flat bed position?
Sleeping, spinal/cervical traction surgery (0 degrees)
Fowlers bed position?
Semi sitting with head elevated, breathe better and confined to bed (45-60 degrees)
Semi fowlers bed position?
Head of the bed raised and foot of the bed raised above the knees, receive gastric feed (15-45 degrees)
Trendelenburg bed position?
Head of the bed lowered and foot of the bed raised, postural drainage (16 degrees)
Reverse Trendelenburg bed position?
Head raised with foot of the bed lowered, promote gastric emptying (30 degrees)
