A
  • alterations in retinal VF + axonal transport neurotrophic factors = cellular stress of retinal ganglion cells –> activates glial cells = inappropriate remodelling extracellular matrix
  • -> deforms lamina cribrosa –> mechanical stress on retinal ganglion cells
