Pathophysiology of Heart Disease Flashcards
Frank starling relationship with HF
Plot SV (or CO) against LVEDP
Will inc CO for a given EDP
If inc contractility, then higher CO for a given EDP
If dec contractility (HF), then lower CO for a given EDP and leads to hypotension and pulmonary congestions
Important corners of P-V curve
Bottom right - filling pressure and EDV intersect
Top left - where afterload and and systolic P/V intersect
Vasodilator effect on P-V curve
Dec afterload and dec preload as well
Sarcomeric sturcture
Mutations to most sarcomeric proteins cause cardiomyopathies
Myosin and myosin binding protein-C are most common in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
Dilated
Hypertrophic
Restrictive
Dilated LV with minimal hypertrophy
Marked LV hypertrophy
Infiltrated or fibrotic LV
