Chronic bronchial asthma.

When mucopurulent or FEV1 falls

What morphological changes occur in chronic bronchitis?
A
Large airways;
- Mucous gland/goblet cell hyperplasia
- Little inflammation/fibrosis
Small airways;
- Goblet cells appear
- Long standing inflammation/fibrosis

What is the pathological definition of emphysema?
A
Increase in size of the airspace distal to the terminal bronchioles.

Describe bullous emphysema
A
- Bulla: emphysematous space >1cm
- May burst and cause pneumothorax
