Path Of Breast 2 Flashcards
Genetic lesions of breast cancer ?
HER/NEU 2 gene
++in estrogen receptor gene
- - in tumor suppressor gene p53
BRCA1 and BRCA2
Non invasive breast carcinoma of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS)
Fill duct spaces, rarely manifests as palatable has excellent prognosis
Cause of pagets disease ?
Caused by extension of DCIS in lactoferous ducts into nipple and skin causing eczema like lesion on nipples and aerola
What is Medullary carcinoma
Is invasive ductal carcinoma that has anaplastic sheets, lack estrogen and progesterone receptors and don’t express HER/NEU2 gene
Tubular carcinoma
Ductal invasive carcinoma that is less that one centimeter, and show malignant ductal cells arranged in tubules, which has excellent prognosis
Infiltrating ductal carcinoma ?
Nipple retraction, firm, peu d’orange, palpated axillary lymph nodes. Star shape
Inflammatory carcinoma ?
Swollen erythematous breast which involve dermal lymphatics and usually metastasize
Invasive lobular carcinoma ?
Rarely express HER/NEU 2 gene, palpable, INDIAN FILE sheets
All specialized type tubular and medullary and mucinous invasive ductal carcinoma show
Show excellent prognosis except inflammatory
Overexpression of her/neu 2 gene
Poorest prognosis with treatment of trastuzumab to show response
