What is the difference between a Person Trapped in lift & a Person Shut in Lift
PTIL-where people are trapped by the lift, it’s operating mechanism or machinery.
PSIL-where people are stranded in car which has stopped moving or doors failed to open.
What are the different types of response to a lift incident?
Lift occupant seriously Ill - 1 pump emergency mobilisation
Non medical emergency - 1 pump non emergency mobilisation
Persons trapped - 2 pump & 1 FRU

What information assists the formulating of a release plan
Number of persons in car and their condition Maximum capacity of the car Type of lift Location of machine room Location of lift car.
How many personnel should be sent to machine room if the lift needs moving

Brake release lever

How much does the counterweight normally weigh?
The weight of the lift car + 50% of the maximum car load.
List the Hazards associated with Lift incidents
Electric shock/ electrocution. Falling from height. Entrapment / impact injury. Exposure to oil & grease. Exposure to other haz substances. Restricted working space. Distressed members of the public. Non passenger lifts.

All doors left locked.
