Q

What is psycholinguistics? What does it deal with? Who introduced the term?

A

Psycholinguistics is an interdisclipinary field, a branch of both linguistics and psychology. The term was introduced by Jacob Robert Kantor in his 1936 book “An Objective Psychology of Grammar”. Kantor’s student, Nicholas Henry Pronko, played a significant role in popularising the field.
It’s the study of the psychological aspects of language, including how language is processed and represented in the mind and brain; the study of language in relation to psychological processes (such as memory, attention, etc.). What psychological and neurobiological factors enable humans to acquire, use, comprehend, and produce language.
