Q

Case AGAINST State Funding of political parties

A

-In a democracy people should be able to donate to any party which they please
-This could mean that radical parties have a higher chance of GoVt
-There is no desire for it
-Taxpayers are opposed to this idea
-Difficult to estimate how much each party should gain

Q

Case FOR State Funding

A

-It would remove influence from wealthy donors who want to ‘buy’ access to politicians
-State funding would mean that politicians can serve more time to the interests of their constituents, instead of seeking money
-Minority parties would have a better chance of gaining seats as the funding gap would decrease
