PArts of the heart Flashcards
Left ventricle
pump oxygen-rich blood into the rest of the body and receive the blood from the left atrium
pulmonary vein
Carries oxygen-rich blood to the left atrium
Right ventricle
Receives oxygen-depleted blood from the right atrium and pump it into the pulmonary artery which carries the blood to the lungs
inferior vena cava
collects oxygen-depleted blood from the lower body and transports it into the right atrium
Left atrium
Receives oxygen-rich blood from the pulmonary veins and then it is pumped to the left ventricle
pulmonary artery
carries oxygen-depleted blood from the right ventricle to the lungs
Right atrium
Receives oxygen-depleted blood from the superior, and inferior vena cavae and the coronary sinus. The blood is pumped to the right ventricle.
Superior vena cava
collects oxygen-depleted blood from the upper body and delivers the blood to the right atrium`
