Geo types of boundries Flashcards
constructive or divergent margins
two plates move away from each other
How are volcanos formed at constructive margins
Magma from the mantle will ooze out as lava and slowly build more layers until it pops out of the ocean.
Destructive (convergent) margins
oceanic crust moves towards continental crust. The oceanic crust subducts and is destroyed.
How are volcanos formed at destructive margins
The newly melted rock is less dense than the magma then it will slowly erode into the continental crust at it will make cracks up the mountain. Then its starts to pool at a place and starts pressurizing. When the pressure is too strong the volcano will erupt.
collision zones
When two continental crust smash at each other they are both pushed up and form fold mountains
conservative margins
plates move past each other
