Atmospheres Flashcards
1
Q
2nd highest atmosphere
A
The thermosphere 90-1000km high the temperature can reach 1500°C air density is so low that it is considered as outer space
2
Q
Second lowest layer
A
Stratosphere. It is 50 km above the ground. There is lots of ozone here to absorb radiation, but the air is very dry and colder.
3
Q
The lowest layer of the atmosphere
A
Troposphere 7-20km All water capor and dust in the atmosphere is in this layer, so that is why clouds are formed there
4
Q
the highest part of the atmosphere
A
The exosphere is the highest part where the atmosphere merges with outer space.
5
Q
Third highest atmosphere
A
Mesosphere 50 km -85 km high. The top of the mesosphere is the coldest area as it averages at -90°C
