What do we use common nouns for? Give an example
To identify what we can see, hear, touch and eat. E.g milk, bread, table, cat
What are proper nouns? Give an example
A name given to a particular person, place or object. E.g David, Dublin, Nissan, Coca-Cola
What are abstract nouns? Give an example
Describe ideas, feelings and states of mind. E.g anger, happiness, honesty, joy
What are collective nouns? Give an example
Words given to a group of things. E.g pride of lions
What is a verb?
Action or doing word
What are adjectives?
Describe nouns or pronouns
What are pronouns?
Replace a noun
What are the three forms of pronouns? Give examples
🔸The person doing the action. E.g I, you, she etc..🔹The person having the action done to them. E.g me, you, him etc…🔸Possessive. E.g my, your, his, hers etc…
Prepositions
Words that help locate a noun in space (under, on, in, behind etc..) or in time (to, at, during, after, before etc…)
Describe conjunctions. Give an example
Connect two words, phrases, clauses or sentences together. E.g but, and, because, if, so that, since, as soon as etc..
What are adverbs? Give an example
Words that add meaning to verbs, adjectives and sometimes other adverbs. E.g slowly, gracefully, quickly
What are capital letters used for?

What are commas used for?

What are apostrophes used for?
Used to indicate.. ▫️Possession–> Jane’s book ▫️Letters missing–> don’t = do not
