Prosecutor
lawyer who conducts the case against a defendant in a criminal court.
Defence
the person or people in a law case who have been accused of doing something illegal, and their lawyer
Plaintiff
someone who makes a legal complaint against someone else in court
Judge
a person who is in charge of a trial in a court and decides how a person who is guilty of a crime should be punished, or who makes decisions on legal matters
Jury
a group of people who have been chosen to listen to all the facts in a trial in a law court and to decide if a person is guilty or not guilty
Foreman of the jury
member of a jury in a court of law who is chosen by the other members to act as spokesperson for the jury
Witness
a person who sees an event happening, especially a crime or an accident:
Solicitor
a type of lawyer in Britain and Australia who is trained to prepare cases and give advice on legal subjects and can represent people in lower courts
Clerk
a person who works in an office, dealing with records or performing general office duties
Victim
someone that has been hurt, damaged, or killed or has suffered, because of the actions of someone else
