part 7 Flashcards
the outer layer of eyeballs consist of
sclera and cornea
the middle layer of eyeballs
- choroid which contains many blood vessels which is bluish in color. It is thin but it becomes thick in the anterior part to form the 2.ciliary body
3, iris which is the visible part of the eye
innermost layer
retina (which has the cells where the light gets received known as the photoreceptor cells)
Retina has three layers from inside to outside. What are their names?
Ganglion cells, Bipolar cells, Photoreceptor cells
photoreceptor cells and their types
Rods(which helps in night vision) and cones (color vision). Photoreceptor cells are not present in the nerve cells that is known as blind spot
macula lutea
lateral to the blind spot there is a yellowish pigmented spot called macula lutea with a central pit called fovea where only cones are present
visual acuity is highest in which point
fovea
aqueous and vitreous chamber
the space between the cornea and the lens is called aqueous chamber and it is filled with a fluid called aqueous humor
the space between the lens and the retina is called vitreous chamber and it is filled with a fluid called vitreous humor
