Q

what do you mean by resting potential

A

when the axon is at rest the inside of the axon is negative( k+ ion) and the outside is positive(Na+). Resting potential of a membrane is -70mV

Q

Depolarization

A

when the instruction has been reached opening of Na+ gate channels occur and influxation of Na+ takes place now the potential is 0 not -70mV. aka Action potential

Q

what is sodium-potassium pump

A

after repolarization has been achieved sodium-potassium pump works at its resting potential, where the oump gives out 3 Na+ and brings in 2 K+ ions.
