What are the Different Parenting Styles
- Authoritarian
- Permissive
- Authoritative
- Neglectful
What is Authoritarian
This is a restrictive parenting style with an emphasizes for respect and work. There is little discussion allowed. Children under this style tend to have less self esteem and social skill.
What is Permissive
This parenting style has few and inconsistent rules, also a relaxed attitude from parents. The parents are more like a friend. The parents are uninvolved and my neglect the needs of the child.
Authoritative
This is a child centered parenting style, the parent interact with the child and has high expectations for them, also a form adherence to schedules and discipline. Children under this style tend to have good self reliance, self esteem, and social competence.
What is the Abuse-Breeds-Abuse Phenomenon
It says that children who were maltreated grow up to be abusers themselves

What are Studies of Orphanage - Reared Infants
Children raised in this institutions are abused and neglected, they have problems with higher level skill eg: regulating attention. They also experience developing delays.
What is the Deprivation of Attachment Study
Harlow raised baby monkeys in isolation without a natural or artificial mother, and so that when the monkeys were afraid they had no preference for either mother. They lashed out with aggression on other monkeys trying to socialize.
