Parallel Operations Flashcards
2 Types of Approaches
Independent and Dependent.
Determined by Radar separation
All aircraft must have what equipment?
ILS/MLS
Independent Parallel Approach (Mode 1)
Intercept angle - 30°
S&L 1nm prior to LOC intercept
S&L 2nm prior to G/S interception
No less than 1035m between runway centrelines
Missed Approach tracks must diverge by 30°
Dependent Parallel Approach (Mode 2)
Minimum 3NM between 2 A/C on the same localiser
Minimum 2nm between 2 A/C on adjacent localisers. (Parallel app)
30° intercept angle
1NM S&L prior to LOC
2NM S&L prior to G/S intercept.
Centreline - 915 m (between two runways)
Simultaneous Instrument Departures -Mode 3
Not less than 760m between runway centrelines.
Aircraft to be identified by 1nm/ 2km from DER
Trucks must diverge by 15°
Segregated Departures & Arrivals - Mode 4
Max intercept angle 45° to the localiser
- 1NM LOCALISER
- 2NM G/S
Not less than 760m, can be staggered by 150m to minimum 300m.
Normal Operating Zone
Applies to Mode 1 only
Fly within half scale deflection to maintain clearance
Extends from threshold to where A/C joins centreline
Non Transgression Zone (NTZ)
NTZ extends from runway threshold to 1000’ separation point.
Think like from LHR to LCY area.
